The role of Cargo Agent within dnata is critical to cargo operations, supporting the seamless movement of goods across export and import channels. This position involves performing a wide range of cargo handling activities, including documentation, customer service, acceptance, delivery, build-up, breakdown, equipment operation, and transportation. The objective is to ensure cargo is handled efficiently, safely, and in compliance with operational standards throughout all stages of cargo operations.
Cargo Agents are required to adhere strictly to departmental policies, standard operating procedures, and work instructions to maintain consistency and control in daily operations. Responsibilities include following assigned operational duties, proactively identifying and reporting safety concerns, and complying with safety, quality, and environmental management systems to maintain a secure working environment.
The role also involves guiding and assisting teams of loaders and equipment operators during cargo handling activities, including build-up, breakdown, acceptance, and delivery of cargo, courier items, and mail. Cargo Agents are responsible for inspecting goods, validating documentation, and ensuring accurate counts at every stage to confirm compliance with applicable criteria and operational requirements.
Accurate and timely data entry into cargo management systems is a key responsibility, whether completed manually or through automated processes. Coordination with government authorities such as Customs, Municipality, Health, and Police departments is also required to ensure smooth clearance and movement of cargo. Special cargo categories, including dangerous goods, live animals, and valuable items, must be handled in accordance with International Air Transport Association (IATA) regulations and manuals.
Additional duties include operating cargo handling equipment such as forklifts and tow trucks, loading and unloading cargo from Unit Load Devices (ULDs), aircraft, and trucks, and ensuring all movements are completed efficiently and safely within designated timeframes.
To be considered for the Cargo Agent role, candidates are required to have a minimum of O-Level education (10 years of schooling) or Higher Secondary education (12 years). A minimum of two years of experience in logistics or cargo operations is required, or one year for candidates with Higher Secondary education. Strong English communication skills, a valid equipment operation license, and working knowledge of cargo systems such as One Cargo, DACS+, and CAMSYS are essential.

Job Purpose

As Cargo Agent you will perform all cargo handling related activities including documentation, customer service, acceptance, delivery, breakdown, build-up, equipment operation and transport to ensure smooth handling of cargo throughout Cargo Operations (Export and Import).
In This Role You Will
- Follows all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner
- Follows the day-to-day operations related to own job
- Discusses safety concerns openly and reports them to the relevant supervisor
- Complies with relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment
- Guides and assists the team of Loaders and Equipment Operators in cargo handling activities build-up, breakdown, acceptance and delivery, documentation of cargo, courier and mail in line with the standards.
- Inspects and validates against relevant documentation and counts goods at every point of delivery, acceptance, breakdown and build-up to ensure that goods conform to relevant criteria and are dispatched in line with the standard work procedures
- Enters data manually or automatically in the cargo systems in a timely manner
- Coordinates with Government Authorities such as Customs, Municipality, Health or Police in an efficient and effective manner to ensure smooth movement of all cargo, courier and mail
- Handles and loads all special cargo (dangerous goods, live animals, valuable goods, etc.) in line with IATA manuals
- Performs all related cargo handling activities and operates equipment as required (Tow Trucks, forklifts, etc) for movement of loads.
- Loads and unloads cargo from ULDs / Aircrafts and Trucks as appropriate in a timely manner
Qualification
To be considered for this role, you should meet the below requirements:
- O level (Minimum of 10 years of schooling required) or Higher Secondary (12 years schooling)
- Experience of 2 years in Logistics and Cargo (1 year in case of Higher Secondary education)
- Good English communication
- Valid license for operating equipment
- System knowledge One Cargo, DACS+, CAMSYS
