Financial Accountant – DP World
Job Overview
DP World is hiring a Financial Accountant to support the financial operations of the ICS Division in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This position is responsible for managing the complete Record-to-Report (R2R) process while ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, audit support, and budgeting activities. The role contributes to maintaining reliable financial information, strengthening internal controls, and providing valuable financial insights that support business decisions. Close collaboration with finance teams and business partners is essential to ensure financial operations remain accurate, compliant, and efficient.
Key Responsibilities
The Financial Accountant manages the end-to-end Record-to-Report cycle, including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, provisions, and intercompany transactions. Monthly closing activities must be completed within reporting deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Regular balance sheet reconciliations are prepared, and outstanding items are investigated and resolved promptly. Monthly financial statements and management reports are produced in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and DP World Group reporting requirements.
Tax compliance is another major responsibility. The role includes preparing and submitting UAE VAT returns within statutory deadlines, reconciling VAT accounts, and ensuring accurate reporting of input and output VAT. Financial transactions involving imports, exports, and free zone operations require correct VAT treatment based on UAE regulations. Corporate Tax responsibilities include preparing tax calculations, maintaining supporting schedules, organizing documentation, and monitoring updates issued by the Federal Tax Authority to ensure continuous compliance.
Audit and Financial Controls
The Financial Accountant serves as the primary finance contact during external audits by coordinating audit requests and preparing financial schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation. Assistance is also provided during internal audits and compliance reviews. Maintaining effective internal controls, ensuring compliance with Group accounting policies, and supporting delegated authority requirements are essential responsibilities that help safeguard financial integrity and improve operational efficiency.
Budgeting and Financial Analysis
Support is provided throughout the annual budgeting process by collecting financial data, preparing reporting templates, and consolidating information from different business units. Monthly actual-versus-budget analysis is performed to identify financial trends and explain significant variances. Gross margin analysis across products, principals, and market segments supports profitability evaluation. Forecast preparation and ad hoc financial analysis help management make informed operational and strategic decisions while improving overall financial performance.
Required Qualifications
Candidates should possess a Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification or an equivalent professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, or CMA. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required. A strong understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is essential for preparing accurate financial statements and ensuring compliance with international accounting standards.
Required Skills and Experience
Applicants should have three to four years of finance and accounting experience within the United Arab Emirates. Practical experience in month-end closing, financial reporting, VAT compliance, Corporate Tax requirements, and audit support is essential. Experience working with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as Oracle, SAP, or similar financial software is highly desirable.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required for financial analysis, reconciliations, reporting, and interpretation of financial data. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, excellent attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple reporting deadlines are critical for success.
