Position: Junior Maintenance Technician – Dolly
Job Overview
dnata operates as a global air services provider delivering ground handling, cargo operations, travel solutions, and flight catering services across multiple continents. Operations extend to 38 countries and more than 136 airports worldwide, supporting airline and aviation partners with critical technical and operational services.
The Junior Maintenance Technician – Dolly role focuses on providing hands-on technical assistance within dnata Technical Services Workshops. The position supports maintenance technicians in performing both scheduled and unscheduled servicing, inspections, repairs, and fault-finding activities. Responsibilities cover a wide range of equipment, vehicles, and plant machinery, ensuring operational readiness, safety compliance, and minimal downtime. Additional duties include housekeeping, tool care, and completion of assigned ad hoc tasks as required by workshop operations.
Key Responsibilities
Daily activities involve planning and organizing individual work tasks within the assigned maintenance area to ensure efficiency and timely execution. Proper housekeeping standards must be maintained across workshops and work zones, with consistent attention given to cleanliness, organization, and safe tool handling.
The role includes assisting in diagnosing technical faults and mechanical or electrical defects affecting equipment, vehicles, and plant machinery. Support is provided during breakdown situations to ensure rapid repairs and reduced operational downtime. Maintenance activities are carried out under guidance, following approved procedures and safety standards.
Accurate documentation is a critical responsibility. All maintenance tasks performed during each shift must be recorded in logbooks or work orders, allowing planning teams to update the Maintenance Management System with precise job details and timelines. This documentation supports maintenance planning, audit requirements, and operational transparency.
Strict adherence to safety procedures is required during all maintenance and repair activities. Preventive measures must be applied to avoid personal injury, equipment damage, or facility-related incidents. Any observed risks or safety concerns must be reported promptly to senior technical staff.

Spare parts and tool requirements must be communicated in advance to Maintenance Technicians or Senior Maintenance Technicians to ensure uninterrupted workflow and timely completion of assigned tasks. Support is also provided during scheduled maintenance programs conducted according to manufacturer recommendations, ISO certification standards, safety guidelines, and all applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Daily inspections of equipment, vehicles, and plant machinery are performed to verify operational reliability and safety. These inspections help identify early signs of wear or malfunction, supporting corrective maintenance planning and accident prevention in operational areas.
The role includes executing allocated tasks related to Unit Load Device (ULD) repair and assembly activities. All ULD-related work must follow procedures defined in the Maintenance Organization Exposition (MOE), manufacturer specifications, EASA and GCAA regulations, and approved safety standards.
Additional support is provided to maintenance technicians working on facility-related systems, including HVAC, electrical installations, and plumbing infrastructure. Assistance may also be required for maintaining and repairing Ground Power Units (GPU), Preconditioned Air (PCA) systems, and generators to ensure uninterrupted ground operations.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
Eligibility for this position requires completion of 12 years of schooling or an equivalent qualification. Candidates must possess a minimum of three years of practical experience in facilities or maintenance roles, with exposure to auto mechanics, electrical systems, or general maintenance disciplines.
A two-year trade certificate course in an engineering-related field is required. Previous experience within a large maintenance organization is preferred, particularly in aviation ground support services or cargo handling environments.
Technical knowledge must include mechanical, electrical, electronic, automobile, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems related to light vehicles or material handling equipment. Experience in maintaining ground support equipment, heavy vehicles, or specialized airport machinery is considered an advantage.
Additional value is placed on specialized training in areas such as hydraulics, lifting equipment, conveyor systems, material handling equipment, PLCs, AC/DC motor control systems, traction batteries, and battery charging systems.
Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written, are essential for coordination, documentation, and compliance with operational procedures.
A valid UAE driving license or home country driving license is preferred, though not mandatory for cargo operational areas. Possession of a valid equipment operation license (ADP) is advantageous but not required for cargo zones. For roles associated with the ULD workshop, a solid understanding of MOE requirements, EASA and GCAA regulations, and applicable safety standards is mandatory.
