Specialist Radiology

Job Description / Responsibilities

• Serves as a diagnostic radiological consultant to physicians.
• Interprets all types of general radiological examinations.
• Interprets and performs procedures requiring fluoroscopy, special procedures, angiography, ultrasound, CT scanning, and MRI scanning within the limits of training, experience, and clinical privileges, and with the approval of the Chief of Radiology.
• Participates in physician conferences and rounds.
• Works with technologists and, when appropriate, instructs them in specialized views and patient positioning when unusual or difficult problems arise.
• Participates in the hospital Quality Improvement Program to meet international standards.
• Provides on-call emergency coverage.
• Participates in the orientation of new technologists and new radiologists.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Medical School with a valid license to practice medicine; or certification by the American Board of Radiology, or possession of a FRCR (Canada) in Diagnostic Radiology, or the English FRCR (or equivalent).
• Specialized training or a minimum of 4 years’ experience as a practicing radiologist.
• Excellent command of oral and written English; knowledge of Arabic is desirable but not essential.
• Thorough knowledge of medical ethics, particularly regarding maintaining confidentiality.
• Personality that inspires confidence and trust in patients.
• Adherence to the Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations of the Medical Organization.
• Current medical licensure in the country of origin and a valid DOH license to practice in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients, and families.
