Job Description
Key Responsibilities & Duties
1. Transthoracic Echocardiogram (TTE)
- Perform 2D echocardiography and Doppler studies for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients
- Record and document preliminary findings
- Immediately notify cardiologists of critical abnormalities (e.g., pericardial tamponade, cardiac tumors, prosthetic valve malfunction, complex congenital heart disease)
- Prepare reports and video recordings for consultant cardiologist review
- Maintain proper documentation and downtime records of echo lab equipment
- Maintain statistics, patient records, and monthly departmental reports
- Report staff issues or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor or department head
- Request and obtain outpatient charts for scheduled patients
- Maintain adequate supplies in the examination room
- Ensure daily cleanliness and organization of the examination room, including bed sheet changes
- Maintain daily census records of completed echocardiography procedures
2. Trans-Esophageal Echocardiogram (TEE) – If Applicable
- Prepare and sterilize equipment prior to the procedure
- Ensure signed patient consent is obtained
- Collect brief patient history and perform preliminary physical assessment
- Explain the procedure to the patient to reduce anxiety and improve cooperation
- Review drug history, allergies, dysphagia, or esophageal conditions

- Explain blood collection procedures clearly to patients prior to specimen collection
- Collect blood specimens using venipuncture, finger stick, and heel stick techniques
- Maintain specimen integrity through aseptic techniques and proper disinfection practices
- Collect therapeutic drug monitoring samples by coordinating with nursing staff or patients to ensure correct timing
- Label and track specimens accurately using barcodes with date and time of collection
