Customs Data Entry Agent – DHL Express, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Job Overview
DHL Express is seeking a detail-oriented Customs Data Entry Agent to support customs clearance operations in Dubai. The position plays a critical role in ensuring full compliance with customs regulations while maintaining the speed and accuracy expected in the express logistics industry. Every shipment must be processed efficiently to meet customer expectations for fast and reliable delivery.
Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to work under pressure, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate demonstrates a proactive learning attitude, stays updated on customs regulations, and works effectively within a team-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
A primary responsibility of the Customs Data Entry Agent is to ensure that all customs pre-alerts are declared within the required timelines. Accurate customs declarations must be prepared and submitted while verifying essential shipment details, including HS Codes, country of origin, number of pieces, shipment weight, declared value, and currency information.
All customs entries submitted through Mirsal 2 and B2G platforms must be processed at the line-item level in accordance with regulatory requirements. Shipments requiring special handling must be updated using the appropriate ACA statuses and bond reason codes to ensure smooth processing and compliance.
Shipments that require approvals from regulatory authorities must be identified promptly and forwarded to the appropriate supervisors for inspection endorsement and further processing. Gateway clearance procedures outlined in the GSOP manual must be followed consistently while maintaining strict adherence to customs regulations and operational standards.
Accurate documentation and record maintenance are essential aspects of the role. Reports, shipment files, and operational records must be updated regularly and maintained according to company and regulatory requirements.
Continuous learning is expected, particularly regarding updates to customs laws, trade regulations, shipping procedures, and developments within the logistics and transportation industry. Familiarity with operational platforms and customs-related applications such as DUBAITRADE, DCE, DCC, ACA, CIA, GIA, GDI, and other Gateway systems is required for efficient job performance.
Work Environment and Shift Requirements
The Gateway Department operates around the clock throughout the year, providing customs clearance support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As a result, this position requires flexibility to work both day and night shifts according to operational needs.
Public holidays are generally treated as regular working days within the department. Employees working during these periods are compensated either through overtime payments or by receiving alternative days off, depending on company policies and operational requirements.
Operations are conducted across multiple free zone locations, including JAFZA, DAFZA, SFZ, HFZ, and other designated facilities. Employees may be assigned to work at any of these locations when required by business needs. Transportation arrangements to and from these locations are the responsibility of the employee.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
Candidates should possess a strong understanding of UAE customs regulations, customs procedures, and clearance practices. Practical knowledge of customs documentation and compliance requirements is highly valued.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly tools used for data entry, reporting, and operational documentation, is required. Strong computer literacy and the ability to work with multiple systems simultaneously will support success in this position.
A graduate degree is preferred, although candidates with equivalent qualifications and relevant experience in customs clearance, logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain operations may also be considered.
