Job Purpose

As a Service Delivery Supervisor (Cargo), you will play a key role in coordinating and supervising all below-wing cargo handling activities related to aircraft arrivals and departures. The position requires strong leadership skills to guide loading teams, ensure smooth ground support operations, and maintain full compliance with service level agreements, operational procedures, and safety regulations. You will also be responsible for conducting aircraft pushback operations while ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and safety at all times.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing aircraft load plans, identifying special cargo requirements, and ensuring effective utilisation of available cargo space while meeting operational timelines and safety standards.

You will plan and communicate manpower and equipment requirements to operational teams to ensure aircraft loading activities are carried out efficiently and that payload capacity is maximised.

The role involves supervising cargo operations across multiple functional areas, including cargo build-up, break-down, documentation, courier handling, cargo acceptance, and cargo delivery, while ensuring productivity targets and operational standards are consistently achieved.

You will provide day-to-day leadership and operational guidance to staff members, assist in resolving operational challenges, and manage employee performance through coaching, counselling, and disciplinary procedures whenever necessary.

A major part of the role includes implementing departmental procedures, operational policies, and work instructions to maintain smooth and effective cargo operations across all shifts.

You will continuously monitor operational performance, equipment utilisation, and resource allocation while promoting a strong culture of workplace safety and regulatory compliance.

The position also requires ensuring full compliance with aviation and cargo industry regulations, including IATA, ISO, IOSA/ISAGO, GDP, and CEIV standards. You will oversee proper cargo acceptance, handling, storage, and delivery procedures to maintain service quality and operational integrity.

Additionally, you will review operational discrepancies, conduct audits, monitor cargo movement activities, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing productivity, reducing operational costs, and improving service efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this position, candidates should possess either a bachelor’s degree with 4 to 6 years of relevant experience, or a diploma qualification with 6 to 8 years of experience in Air Cargo or Ground Handling operations.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge

Candidates with additional industry certifications and technical knowledge will have a strong advantage. Preferred qualifications include:

  • Advanced understanding of Cargo Live Animal Regulations
  • Dangerous Goods Acceptance certification
  • Strong safety awareness and operational compliance knowledge
  • Advanced cargo tariff knowledge
  • Basic understanding of load control procedures
  • Basic budgeting and cost control skills
